Jamie
Landers
Holy Trinity Youth Minister
My name is Jamie Landers.
I was born in Greenville, South Carolina, and have since
lived in North Carolina, Georgia, West Virginia, and
Ohio. My dad is a pastor and my mom was a homemaker
until recently when she began working with autistic and
special needs children. I am the oldest of four
children; three girls and a boy.
My passion for ministry and social services led me to
attaining a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from
Wittenberg University and pursuing a Master’s degree in
Divinity, studying courses at the Lutheran and Episcopal
seminaries in Austin. While in seminary, I had the
opportunity to develop my knowledge and appreciation for
the Spanish language and culture.
I have always enjoyed working with a diverse population
and have dedicated time to children with learning
disabilities, youth and adults with mental illnesses, as
well as juvenile delinquents. I have volunteer
involvement in all aspects of church activities.
Employment experiences have included work with juvenile
detention and rehabilitation facilities, churches, and
families in financial stress.
Personal enjoyment comes through talking to my family on
the phone, hanging out with my boyfriend and friends,
and playing with my dog, Clay. I also enjoy tennis,
racquetball, and biking. One of the most physically and
mentally challenging events of my life was riding a bike
across Georgia. I am attempting to raise my score in
bowling and lower it in putt putt. I love reading, but
sometimes avoid it because once I start a book, I forget
to live until it has been completed. I cannot get
through a day without listening to music, but am
horrible about naming songs or bands. I have a love for
animals and thus have a difficult time not adopting
every pet I see (except spiders). It is this love for
animals that resulted in becoming a vegetarian ten years
ago and sticking to the lifestyle.
Now I find my journey has brought me to Holy Trinity by
the Lake where I look forward to growing and serving
within this faith community. |
